Mattia Cozzolino

PhD student

Mattia recently completed his MSc at the University of Pisa, after earning his BSc in Physics from the University of Naples Federico II in 2020. Following a short break, he continued his academic journey in Pisa, focusing on theoretical physics, with particular interest in field theories applied to both high- and low-energy systems.

His Master’s thesis addressed a condensed matter physics problem, involving the development of a theoretical model to study the effective mass of electrons arising from electron–electron interactions in bilayer graphene encapsulated within a hyperbolic metamaterial cavity, with metallic gates placed at the boundaries of the structure to enable control over the electron density.

After completing his studies, Mattia worked as a GIS developer and business analyst for an IT consulting firm.

He is currently a PhD student at the Polytechnic University of Bari, where his research focuses on Photonic Integrated Circuits.
